Synopsis
Intern Lawyer Shen Zhixia has been at Hengzheng Law Firm, the biggest firm in the city, for barely a month when she refuses to "lose" the attendance sheets of a food delivery platform's couriers. She is thrown out and blacklisted across the entire industry. With nowhere left to turn, she binds herself to a Justice System that only takes on cases of injustice. Every prompt opens with the crack of a gavel. It never fabricates evidence and never rewrites a verdict. It only helps her see the truths that have been hidden away. As a Citizen Representative, she takes on the case of Ma Jianjun, a delivery rider who was beaten while demanding his unpaid wages, and goes head to head with Lu Jibai, the famously Undefeated Lawyer, in the courtroom. Unpaid wages, rent disputes, medical bills, online harassment, family matters, environmental harm: she wins justice for the little people one case at a time. At the end of each case, the Unsettled Ledger pulls her step by step closer to the old Baixi Village case that nine years ago framed her father, Shen Qian, and led to his death. Standing across from her, and always guarding her from behind, is the person who handed in the water samples as an intern nine years ago. In this lawsuit, she is fighting for more than just other people. She is fighting for herself, too.
