Nobody expected things to turn out this way.

Even the spectators thought that the Purgation Duel would be one-sided, as High Lord Ursa simply had many things up his sleeve. It was clear by now that he managed to retain his position—as a High Lord for centuries because of his capabilities.

It wasn’t because of luck.

Against a relatively new High Lord like High Lord Rashal, things should be easy for him.

But reality proved otherwise.

High Lord Rashal’s side didn’t only perform well, but also got the upper hand now.

"Insane!" A family member of a High Lord shot up to his feet. His eyes were bulging so wide as though they might leap from his skull. "This is insanity! How many tricks does Demigod Rex have? And even

"How did he do that...? Something like this shouldn’t be possible!"

"Where did High Lord Rashal find that warrior? He’s too unnatural to be real!"

On the side, High Lord Leenim’s eyes narrowed in surprise.

Beside him, his wife was also taken aback by what she was seeing.

"Dear, do you know how he did that?" She asked.

"I don’t... know." High Lord Leenim shook his head as he was also surprised. "Demigods accumulated their divinity through making sacrifices and doing sacred labours for their God. It has always been that way for everyone. I have never seen anyone like him."

Killing High Millinar Vlaos was one thing, but the spectators were surprised by what Rex did next.

For Rex to be able to crush High Millinar Vlaos and harvest his divinity was unnatural.

It was the work of the devil.

Anyone who attempted to do that would be struck down by their own God.

Or perhaps the God Realm would be involved directly, as such an individual would only evoke anarchy.

Rex, on the other hand, could harvest High Millinar Vlaos without evoking any tribulations—and more than that, he also didn’t need to properly digest the divinity. He could use his new height of divinity and battle without stopping.

Just that alone was scary to see.

"I understand now why High Lord Rashal picked him," the wife reclined on her chair, shaking her head as though she had already lived for long—the world seemed to always be full of individuals who could still surprise her. "And I believe I owe you an apology, dear."

"I don’t blame you for not believing my decision." High Lord Leenim chuckled. "It’s reckless—but our family might really be entering a new era. And for some reason, I still have a hunch that Demigod Rex is still not going all out."

"Not going all out...? Just how strong an Awakened Demigod can be?"

"We’ll have to see."

A few seats away, the daughter of High Lord Leenim scooted over to Lilliana.

"Aunty..." She called shyly.

"Err—" Lilliana’s eyes twitched. "Call me Lady Lilliana."

"Okay, Lady Lilliana. Can I ask you a question?"

"I don’t mind."

"Is your husband the devil? I think the Demon God isn’t as scary as your husband."

Lilliana smiled acutely.

Initially—she wanted to slap this kid for calling her an aunty even though she was still as charming and youthful as youngsters. But then, the daughter somehow referred Rex as her husband. She didn’t know what to feel.

She cleared her throat and focused again.

"I think calling him the devil is too much." She said—while crossing her arms under her chest. "Instead of the devil—he’s more like the attack dog of the devil. And don’t be too intimidated by him. He’s only like this because he’s a maniac about fighting, though he won’t admit it if you asked directly."

"How can I ask directly?" the daughter smiled sheepishly. "I wouldn’t dare. And what about—"

"If you’re going to ask me how he did what he did—I also don’t know. He’s open with most things, but I have a feeling that he’s also reserved about other things."

It was a subtle feeling at the back of her heart.

Ever since she followed Rex, he had been quite open about most things. He told her about his life back in his home realm, about his women, about his approaching daughter, about his powers, even about his ties to the powerful and mysterious organization.

But for some reason, there was still a feeling that he wasn’t telling everything about his power.

Lilliana also had seen him use things that couldn’t be explained.

Like there was an entity helping him that he could siphon power and other uses from.

As unbelievable as the thought was, she trusted her gut feeling. It was rarely wrong about a person.

Still, she would never pressure Rex to reveal whatever he was hiding from them or anyone around him. At this point, she knew him well enough to also trust him with his secrets. If it ever put them in danger, he would tell them.

Rex always would.

It was the kind of man he is—protective about those around him.

Since he didn’t, then there must be nothing to worry about, so Lilliana didn’t really mind.

’It’s good for men to have their own secrets anyway,’ She thought inside and smirked. ’Hotter that way.’

"I-I see... One more question."

"What is it?"

"Erm..." The daughter curled her hair around her index finger—playing with it. "Does he still need more women in his life? Like concubines in the medieval era, you know? Because if he still needs more, I’m still free."

Lilliana’s eyes twitched as she stared at this girl who wasn’t even a quarter of her age.

Even though she was under the impression that Rex was Lilliana’s husband, she still dared to ask that.

’Should I smack her right here? I doubt her parents would say anything to me.’ Lilliana thought inside as her hand was itching to teach this little girl a lesson. ’It would count as disciplining their child, so I’m sure it would be fine.’

Meanwhile, down below, the death of High Millinar Vlaos sent a shockwave across the entire realm.

It was not a physical wave—not the kind that shattered stone or tore through flesh. It was a ripple in the fabric of the dimension itself, a disturbance that every warrior under High Lord Ursa’s wing felt in their bones.

On the red shore, the two stationary High Millinars—the ones who were focusing solely on maintaining their Major Laws—snapped their eyes open in utter shock. They felt a disturbance in the air that struck their mind like a lightning strike.

Every High Millinar under High Lord Ursa was tied together.

A web of immortal energy exclusive to their senses, woven over several days ago, designed so that they could communicate with each other without needing words. If one was in trouble—the others would be able to tell and come to the rescue.

Making it easy for everyone to get support and regroup.

Considering the battle, it was a great thing to have in case things went south.

But High Millinar Vlaos’ death was sudden. Instantaneous.

Both of them could feel that he was in a heated battle from the pain he was feeling, but like all of them, he was equipped with life-saving treasures. No need to worry about those treasures shattering, which would leave him exposed.

Or at least, that’s what they thought.

Until, out of nowhere, High Millinar Vlaos died.

He had no chance to cry for help, and the others had no chance to intervene.

One moment he was there, and the next, he was simply gone.

Such a disappearance sent a shiver down their spine—as they never expected a warrior under High Lord Rashal was capable of doing something like that. Even High Lord Rashal himself would need to shatter the treasures first before killing High Millinar Vlaos.

And yet, whoever killed High Millinar Vlaos now didn’t need to go through that at all.

Swish—!

Clang—!

Swish—!

Countless slashes struck the barriers protecting the stationary High Millinars.

Vadyn’s attacks created relentless sparks that were blinding, but the two could still see into the distance, watching the exchange between Rex and the other High Millinars. And their hearts skipped a beat when they saw how Rex shattered High Millinar Vlaos and harvested his divinity.

It was like watching a nightmare being played right in front of their eyes.

"Impossible..." One of the stationary High Millinars muttered. "How can this be?"

"Absorbing others’ divinity?" the other gasped. "Doesn’t that make him extremely dangerous and evil?"

Since the dawn of time, the Demigods who were born in the God Realm always needed to side with the God that controlled their realm and pleased that God to rise through the ranks and, in turn, become even stronger.

Divine points could only be achieved that way.

It was the reason High Millinars were respected everywhere.

Because unlike the normal Demigods—they were given a constant supply of divine points based on their merits by the God. High Millinars would soar in power because of that. It was also why every time there was a new High Millinar, it was most likely because the previous one was dead.

But Rex didn’t need any of that.

His method was basically a stronger version of the Demigods under the God of Bloodshed.

For those Demigods, they started wars and committed slaughters simply to please their God and be given divine points through that. Rex, on the other hand, killed other Demigods to absorb their divinity for his own nutrition.

And that made him significantly more dangerous than he was before.

Even though their Major Laws were activated, enshrouding the realm with a crippling effect, it was still too slow to affect Rex. Surprisingly enough, the Major Laws weren’t working as well on Rex, or perhaps he had a countermeasure for it.

And as the aura of divinity that Rex was emanating rose, panic began to settle in.

Just then, they saw it.

High Millinar Angela sacrificed herself, giving her power to High Millinar Julas.

She did it in the name of vengeance.

Both stationary High Millinars knew that she was close with High Millinar Vlaos—so this did not come as a surprise. However, this was also a signal for them that they needed to take risks. Operating a large-scale Major Law while fighting would be dangerous, but they have no other choice.

Neither could stand still anymore.

And almost naturally, without needing to exchange a word, their eyes landed on Diamantona.

Considering how powerful Diamantona was, it was hard to believe that he was stuck.

But the dimensional prison that High Lord Rashal trapped him in was strong beyond measure. It was a prison made by the full power of a Transcendent Demigod, and even Diamantona couldn’t escape from it easily.

Or at least, not without external help.

Seeing their gazes, Vadyn instantly knew what they wanted to do.

For the better part of the Purgation Duel, she had been attacking relentlessly, trying to shatter the hard and annoying protective barriers that were protecting these two. She went from glass fragment to glass fragment and struck without end.

And now, in their moment of stunned stupor, she thought this was the perfect time to make her move.

’I need to hurt one now!’

She moved even faster.

Fragments of glass swirled around the two protective bubbles like a tornado, and she slashed and cut at them with twice the speed she had before. The shards of glass shrieked against the barriers, and without giving any signal, they suddenly latched onto the surface of the protective barriers.

Her attacks might be weak, but she would be a fool to keep attacking without a plan.

Vadyn had been marking the protective barriers.

Infusing more and more of her power into them with every strike.

Her eyes then turned cold and focused, activating something—and the two High Millinars realized their mistake too late. Like a ghost—Vadyn’s hand entered through the glass shards, and then she emerged on the inside.

"You two underestimated me too much," She smirked savagely. "Now die!"

Slash—!
