Chapter 1962: Duality

"Your power?" Alavenya tilted her head in confusion. "I have no idea. You’ve been supporting us just fine. You know something about it, Evelyn?"

"Hmm?" Evelyn raised her eyebrows. "I don’t. Sera is our support, right? She has been able to boost our strength just fine. What’s actually the problem?"

"It’s probably something about her duality." Selena’s voice echoed from the side.

All of them turned their heads, finding Selena dragging two corpses to dispose of.

"My duality?" Sera tilted her head in confusion.

"Yeah. Haven’t you been wondering about your path after getting your divinity? What would you do to achieve the authorities? Considering it’s an upgrade for divinity, what can you do with your duality?" explained Selena while tossing the corpses to the pile of corpses not far from them.

"An upgrade to my divinity?" Sera was confused. "I don’t understand."

"It’s probably something you should figure out on your own. If not, Nathan would have told you directly about it. Maybe something he doesn’t want to affect your divinity or authority with his bullshit?" Selena shrugged. "I don’t know."

Vivian looked at the sky and said, "Now that I think about it, we’re all about balance, right? I mean, like yin and yang, good and evil, and war and peace... All that is included in duality, right?"

"Yeah." Sera nodded.

"So, I’m wondering if good can turn evil and evil can turn good?"

"!!!" Sera was startled. "Good turns into evil, evil turns into good..."

"That’s a good question." Selena couldn’t help but agree with this thought. "You are talking about the fluidity of duality?"

"Yeah." Vivian nodded. "I mean, just by looking at how we’re using our power, Selena has been using her blood to affect herself, others, and even the world itself."

"I haven’t touched the world though. Does this world even bleed? How about this universe? Can I make it bleed?" Selena tilted her head in confusion.

"I’m talking about your control over energy, Selena. If you assume that energy is the blood of the universe, can you control this universe?"

"That’s a good question. I’ve never thought of that." Selena snapped her fingers. "Why haven’t you told me about it all this time?"

"I thought you’re already aware of it."

Selena shook her head helplessly. "Either way, I’ve got it. Now that I think about it, isn’t that the basic requirement for authorities? If divinity changes me and the others, the authorities can change the world itself."

"Yeah. That’s what I’m talking about. I’m currently trying to do something about that." Vivian nodded. "Evelyn has been doing such a thing from the start, so it shouldn’t really be hard for you, right?"

"True. I’ve already gotten the concept ready," confirmed Evelyn. "It will be hard, but it will be manageable."

"So, I’m thinking he’s talking about the fluidity that Sera possesses. It’s just... I don’t know the duality more than you, Sera. In the end, that’s the answer you need to get yourself."

"..." Sera fell silent for a moment before looking down and falling into deep thought. She suddenly noticed a pattern.

She could boost herself, even though it wouldn’t matter much since she didn’t fight directly. So, she usually focused on helping others.

However, the duality was different.

"Nathan once mentioned black holes and white holes. The black hole is a singularity that absorbs everything, including light. On the other hand, the white hole is a singularity that expels everything... most likely at the center of the universe." Evelyn recalled the information since the space and gravity elements would be related to these two existences.

Sera felt something click in her mind. ’White hole, black hole. Good and evil. Duality...’

Sera muttered, "Have I been too close-minded all this time?"

They were confused by what she said.

"What I have been doing is just creating a duality of a concept. If there is war, there must be peace. If there is evil, there must be good. However..." Sera extended her hand toward Bella. "Excuse me."

"What are you doing?" Bella asked before she suddenly shut her eyes. It wouldn’t have shocked everyone if Bella hadn’t said, "What is going on? I can’t open my eyes!"

"Duality. If there are open eyes, there must be closed eyes." Sera snapped her fingers.

Suddenly, Bella could open her eyes again. "Oh! I can open my eyes again! Sera?"

Sera apologized. "I’m sorry. It’s just... I might have really been too close-minded about this power. Duality is not limited to the concept. By opening the war gate, I can raise your strength and morale. By opening the peace gate, I can keep you calm and collected.

"However, what if I change things in detail? For example, if you open your eyes, what if I make them close?

"If you are injured, what if I make it so you are not injured? No, not injured is not the duality. Rather than pain, it will feel like a stimulant."

"!!!" They widened their eyes in shock. They had never thought about the concept of duality.

That was right. What if they got injured and rather than healing them, Selena chose to apply the duality? Those wounds would disappear and create a powerful stimulant to boost their power.

What if they were exhausted? Could they suddenly feel fresh again, or something even more?

Depending on what she wanted to change, the power consumption would follow.

However, it was a concept she had never tried before.

"Wait. Don’t tell me. The reason Sera is irreplaceable in Nathan’s perspective is that this duality might be able to allow the Outer Gods to escape control? Like if they’re controlled, what’s the reverse version? Not controlled or regained clarity?" Vivian couldn’t help but gasp.

They could fight, but Sera was probably the only one who could do such a magical thing.

If this concept actually worked, Sera would become a being that transcended her limits. Of course, the power consumption would be considerable. She might not have enough, but her power could do what others couldn’t.

That was what made her irreplaceable.

"Nathan knows all this from the beginning?"

"It must be one of his bullshit that ends up becoming a reality."
