Chapter 2325: The Singing Rakshasa (Part 3)
...
Felix turned toward the ongoing battle, his grin growing even wider. "It looks like she’s planning to perform a few of them in this match."
A brief silence followed as the others processed his lengthy explanation.
Unfortunately, it didn’t take long for Owen to lose his patience.
"You haven’t explained shit!" he exclaimed.
"We asked you to explain what’s happening to Crimson Soul and what your sister did to make him act like a coward!"
"But all you’ve done is tell us about your background and boast about your sister’s talents!" he complained.
Owen then pointed toward the ongoing battle. "And another thing! You said she’s using one of the deadliest combinations of those Divine Melodies or whatever they’re called, yet we haven’t heard her sing a single note!"
"Ah~! Sorry about that," Felix replied with a somewhat half-hearted apology.
He then shrugged. "But wouldn’t explaining exactly what’s happening be the same as revealing the secrets behind her techniques?"
Owen opened his mouth to argue, but no words came out. After all, Felix did have a point.
Felix couldn’t help but chuckle at Owen’s expression. "I’m just kidding. Don’t worry about it."
Seeing their exchange, Shin could only shake his head helplessly. Before Owen could lose his temper again, he decided to intervene. "She is indeed singing."
Hearing this, both Owen and Samael immediately turned toward Shin with puzzled expressions, while Felix couldn’t help but look slightly surprised.
"Eh!? She’s singing?" Owen exclaimed in disbelief. "Can you actually hear her, Brother Swordsman?"
He immediately turned back toward the ongoing battle and frowned deeply. "I can’t hear a thing!"
Shin nodded calmly. "That’s because we aren’t the ones being targeted by her song."
"Then how do you know she’s singing?" Owen asked, still looking confused.
Shin answered without hesitation. "Because of the illusion technique she used during their initial exchange."
He paused for a moment, allowing Owen and Samael to recall what had happened before continuing.
"Remember that brief moment when she made us lose track of her real body while replacing it with an illusion? She used a technique that affected a wide area, subtly interfering with our perception and causing us to overlook the switch."
He then turned his gaze back toward the battlefield. "At that moment, she was already singing a melody so faint that none of us noticed it."
"Then how did you realize we were being influenced by her song?" Owen asked, still trying to piece everything together.
Shin simply stared at him in silence.
It took Owen a moment before he finally remembered something. "Ah! You’re a Mentalist in the real world, so you must be familiar with illusion techniques!"
Owen’s assumption wasn’t entirely wrong, but it wasn’t the complete explanation either.
The real reason behind Shin’s extraordinary perception was a technique he had only recently mastered: the Heart Realm Technique, which he had inherited from Professor Henry.
Through this technique, Shin’s perception of his surroundings had reached an extraordinary level, allowing him to sense things that would ordinarily escape the notice of others.
However, Shin had no intention of explaining all that to Owen.
Instead, he simply turned toward Felix, waiting for him to continue explaining his sister’s methods.
Felix stared intently at Shin, seemingly trying to peer into the latter’s mind.
Shin might have made it sound simple, but Felix knew that merely being a Mentalist wasn’t enough to recognize that Felicia was singing.
However, despite his curiosity, he chose not to question Shin about it.
Instead, he continued his explanation. "What my sister is using right now is a combination of two of the Great Divine Melodies."
"The first is the Silent Requiem of the Sorrowful Queen, which has two distinct functions. One silences all sounds within the surrounding area, while the other renders all her movements completely silent."
Hearing this simple explanation, Shin and the others immediately understood the nature of the melody.
It was an incredibly powerful technique, especially considering that most of the Divine Sound Sect’s martial arts revolved around sound.
Shin also finally understood how Felicia had concealed the fact that she was singing.
However, he could also read between the lines. As powerful as the technique sounded, there had to be some drawbacks or limitations that prevented it from being completely overpowered.
’Sustaining such a Divine Melody must require considerable concentration and consume a significant amount of energy,’ Shin thought to himself before turning his attention back to the battle.
Felix then continued. "As for the second melody, it’s called the Whispers of the Dead Poet."
"It’s a little complicated to explain, but you can think of it as a technique that targets the opponent’s mind. It constantly interferes with their reasoning and judgment while gradually dulling their senses."
Shin immediately understood what Felix was implying.
He remained silent for a moment before finally nodding. "This combination is indeed quite deadly."
He then turned his attention toward the battlefield, where Crimson Soul was clearly being affected by Felicia’s songs.
Shin couldn’t help but feel a little sorry for the famous God of the Twin Blades.
"If this were a straightforward fight, he might have had a chance to fully demonstrate his strength," Shin muttered before shaking his head. "Unfortunately, he’s facing someone whose fighting style is practically designed to counter aggressive fighters who rely on frontal assaults."
Having seen how the two Divine Melodies worked together, Shin could already anticipate the likely outcome of the match.
Felicia’s fighting style was simply too troublesome for someone like Crimson Soul to deal with.
...
Meanwhile, back on the battlefield, Crimson Soul was gradually losing his composure for reasons he couldn’t explain.
"What is happening?" he muttered, desperately trying to keep himself under control.
He didn’t understand what was happening to him, but he was at least aware that something was seriously wrong.
Unfortunately, whenever he tried to assess the situation and figure out what was interfering with his senses—
"@#%&^!"
Strange murmurs filled his mind, whispering incomprehensible words that disrupted his thoughts and clouded his judgment.
And before he could even begin to understand what was happening—
Shing! Shing! Shing!
He would suddenly find himself facing another series of attacks from Felicia, forcing him to concentrate on defending himself instead.
This continued for quite some time until Crimson Soul gradually lost track of what he had originally been trying to figure out.
He had already fallen deeper into the illusion Felicia was weaving around his senses.
Had he known how Felicia’s techniques worked, he might have been able to guard against their effects and focus on resisting her mental attacks.
Unfortunately, this was his first time encountering such an opponent, much less someone who could combine these techniques so seamlessly.
Without knowing what he was up against, Crimson Soul had no reliable way to protect his mind, let alone find an effective means of counterattacking.
...
Shing! Shing! Shing!
Clang!
Several more exchanges passed, yet Crimson Soul was still struggling to keep himself in the fight. The situation was becoming increasingly unfavorable for him.
From the spectators’ perspective, he might have appeared relatively unharmed. However, upon closer inspection, the exhaustion etched across his face was unmistakable.
His expression had grown haggard, and his movements were becoming increasingly sluggish.
These were clear signs that his mind was approaching its limits.
Crimson Soul had finally realized that something was wrong with his mental state, and the effects were severely compromising his performance.
Unfortunately, by the time he recognized the problem, his situation had already become dire.
"&%$@$!"
Once again, incomprehensible murmurs whispered into his ears, further disrupting his thoughts and worsening his condition.
However, unlike before, Crimson Soul immediately braced himself against the mental assault, desperately trying to maintain his composure.
Unfortunately, his mind was already in a terrible state. No matter how hard he fought back, he couldn’t fully resist the relentless assault eating away at his consciousness.
Cough! Cough!
In the end, he suddenly doubled over, coughing violently as blood spilled from his mouth.
Only then did he notice the strange sensation coming from his chest.
Looking down, his eyes widened.
The wavy blade of Felicia’s Kris Sword had pierced through his back and emerged from his chest.
"Damn it! I couldn’t even put up a proper fight until the very end..." Crimson Soul muttered, his brows furrowing deeply in frustration.
He had failed to showcase his true strength throughout the entire match, leaving him feeling as though he had been nothing more than a plaything in his opponent’s hands.
Puchi!
A moment later, Felicia withdrew her Kris Sword.
She then moved gracefully around him, appearing directly before his eyes.
The God of the Twin Blades stared at her with a mixture of disbelief and frustration before finally asking, "Just what... are you?"
Swoosh!
Before Felicia could answer, Crimson Soul’s body began dissolving into countless motes of light, signaling that his HP Bar had finally been depleted by the decisive strike.
Felicia had won the match.
And she had done so with astonishing ease.
...
Standing atop the cliff, Shin and the others watched the conclusion of the battle with rather complicated expressions.
They had expected Felicia to perform well, but they hadn’t anticipated such a one-sided outcome.
Owen couldn’t help but scratch his head. "Tsk! Tsk! I almost feel sorry for that guy."
Samael nodded silently, still trying to process everything he had witnessed.
Meanwhile, Felix merely pursed his lips as he watched his twin sister calmly return her Kris Sword to its resting position.
After a brief pause, he turned toward the others and asked, "Do you know what the people in our sect call my sister?"
He allowed a moment for the question to sink in before revealing the answer with a knowing smirk.
"They call her the Singing Rakshasa."
